Supervises: Education Staff

The Arrowhead Principal is responsible for promoting the success of the students and education staff by facilitating the development, articulation, implementation, and stewardship of a vision of learning that is shared and supported by the school community.

Performance Objectives:

  1. Works with the Education Staff, promoting the success of the students by advocating, nurturing and sustaining a school culture and instruction program conducive to student learning and staff development.

    • Provides leadership for establishing a professional learning community that focuses on continuous improvements.

    • Articulates and fosters the desired school culture.

    • Consistently maintains quality interaction with teachers, students, parents and the larger community.

    • Provides direction in the evaluation, design, and implementation of rigorous curriculum, quality instruction and multiple assessment practices.

  2. Provides administrative and management activities for Arrowhead Academy’s day to day educational operations.

    • Evaluates staff and provides ongoing coaching for improvement.

    • Designs, manages and monitors operational procedures in an ethical and efficient manner to maximize opportunities for student learning.

    • Complies with state and federal mandates, board policies and other governing body requirements.

    • Supports educational goals by managing fiscal and physical resources of the school responsibly, efficiently and effectively.

    • Actively participates in Board meetings, administrative meetings, risk management and treatment team meetings.

  3. Collaborates with student families and education communities, promoting successful learning while placed at Arrowhead and transitioning back home to their local education environments.

    • Supports an environment for family and community involvement in the school.

    • Engages family and community by enhancing shared responsibility for student learning and support of the school.

    • Demonstrates that visibility, involvement, and communication with the larger community are priorities.

Qualifications

  1. Any qualifications set by state certification authorities or the appropriate agency; must have an LBS1 certificate and certified as a School Administrator.

  2. Must be willing to become First Aid and CPR certified.

  3. Will value diversity and incorporate cultural differences into educational planning and implementation into work environment.

  4. Must have a valid driver’s license and approval from the state of Illinois Department of Children and Family Services to transport children. Must qualify to become insured by Arrowhead’s insurance carrier.

  5. Must be physically capable of participating in the restraint of adolescents that are endangering the safety of self, others, or the destruction of property.  In addition, must be physically capable of successful completion of CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) training and be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.

Terms of Employment

Year-round school commitment with arranged summer school hours.
