Position Title: Career and Technical Education (CTE) Auto Tech Teacher
Supervises: Students, Para Professionals
The Automotive Technology Teacher will develop the program to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary for lifelong use or entrance into the automotive industry. Students learn skills based on the nationally recognized Automotive Service Education (ASE) program certification standards.
Works with the Principal and Education Staff by performing the following education duties:
Course emphasis will be on ASE tasks as related to service fundamentals, engine repair and performance, brake systems, steering and suspension systems, electrical and electronic systems, chassis systems, climate control systems, alternative fuels technology, vehicle computer control systems, automatic and manual transmissions, and vehicle body mechanical systems.
Ability to operate and maintain a working Automotive shop environment, responsible for inventory, ordering/purchasing of supplies, tools and equipment along with the maintenance and service of required equipment.
Responsible for attending all school functions.
Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the program goals of Arrowhead.
Assess the daily accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide monthly progress reports as required.
Maintain specific advanced lesson plans one week in advance.
Perform any other duties requested by the immediate supervisor.
Any qualifications set by state certification authorities or the appropriate agency; employee must have 60 semester hours in the Career Technical Field of Automotive Mechanics or Education qualifications plus 2000 hours of on the job training to be verified by an employer.
Must be willing to become First Aid, CPR and CPI certified. Must be physically capable of successful completion of CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) training and be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.

Must have a valid driver’s license and approval from the state of Illinois Department of Children and Family Services to transport children. Must qualify to become insured by Arrowhead’s insurance carrier.
